Policy Change – Re:Homing From Monday 25th January 2010

Since we started here in 1994 we have always left it to the discretion of a person offering a home to one of our animals as to whether they leave a voluntary donation to the shelter. We are always delighted to see one of our precious animals being bought a new bed, a new collar and lead and toys by their new owners. For many it will be the first time they have ever had anything of their own.

Sadly though, the reality is that each animal costs the shelter quite a bit, from veterinary care, to good quality food and heat. Which they all deserve. Some animals may need to stay here several weeks or even longer while they recover or while waiting for the right home to come along.

The love and nursing care we give them is entirely free, but we have ourselves to find the money for the rest.

Accordingly we have introduced the following set donation in respect of re: homing.

Dogs €90
Cats €60
Rabbits and other small animals €60
Grazing animals €120

We regret very much finding it necessary to introduce this charge and we hope it will not affect in anyway those thinking of offering a home to any of our lovely animals. All revenue received will be paid directly off our veterinary accounts.

This fee is non returnable.
